NTA JEE Main Syllabus 2026 Details
|
The NTA JEE Main syllabus for 2026 remains consistent with the updated 2025 curriculum, which was significantly streamlined to align with the
NCERT Class 11 and 12 textbooks. The exam is divided into Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech) and Paper 2 (B.Arch/B.Planning).
Paper 1: B.E. / B.Tech (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics)
1. Physics Syllabus
Physics is divided into Section A (80% theoretical) and Section B (20% practical/experimental skills).
- Mechanics: Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation.
- Properties of Matter: Properties of Solids and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases.
- Oscillations & Waves: Simple Harmonic Motion (SHM), Wave Motion.
- Electricity & Magnetism: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction, and Alternating Currents.
- Optics & Modern Physics: Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices.
- Experimental Skills: Familiarity with lab experiments like Vernier calipers, screw gauge, and Ohm’s law.
2. Chemistry Syllabus
Chemistry is categorized into Physical, Inorganic, and Organic sections.
- Physical Chemistry: Basic Concepts, Atomic Structure, Chemical Bonding, Thermodynamics, Solutions, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Electrochemistry, and Chemical Kinetics.
- Inorganic Chemistry: Classification of Elements and Periodicity, p-Block, d- and f-Block Elements, Coordination Compounds.
- Organic Chemistry: Purification and Characterization, Basic Principles, Hydrocarbons, Organic Compounds containing Halogens/Oxygen/Nitrogen, and Biomolecules.
- Practical Chemistry: Principles related to practical exercises like titration and salt analysis.
3. Mathematics Syllabus
- Algebra: Sets, Relations and Functions, Complex Numbers and Quadratic Equations, Matrices and Determinants, Permutations and Combinations, Binomial Theorem, Sequence and Series.
- Calculus: Limit, Continuity and Differentiability, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations.
- Coordinate Geometry: Straight Lines, Circles, Conic Sections (Parabola, Ellipse, Hyperbola), Three-Dimensional Geometry, Vector Algebra.
- Statistics & Trigonometry: Statistics and Probability, Trigonometry.
Major Deleted Topics (Stay Alert)
The following topics were removed in recent updates and are not part of the current syllabus:
- Physics: Communication Systems, Doppler Effect in sound, Carnot engine.
- Chemistry: States of Matter, Surface Chemistry, s-Block Elements, Hydrogen, Environmental Chemistry, Polymers, Chemistry in Everyday Life, Metallurgy.
- Mathematics: Mathematical Induction, Mathematical Reasoning.
Paper 2: B.Arch & B.Plan
- Part I (Mathematics): Same as Paper 1.
- Part II (Aptitude Test): Awareness of places/buildings, 3D perception, visualising objects from 2D drawings, analytical reasoning.
- Part III (Drawing/Planning):
- B.Arch: Sketching scenes from memory, 2D/3D compositions, and design of abstract patterns.
- B.Plan: General awareness of government programs, urbanisation, and basic planning concepts.
